This Week: Five Events You Need to Know (September 3)

Hurricane Harvey’s warning, wmd threats from North Korea, Syria and Iran, and more

Here are five of the most important news stories this week, as well as relevant links to the full articles and videos here on theTrumpet.com.

Hurricane Harvey: Another Wake-up Call for the U.S.

Harvey hit Southeast Texas on August 25 with the force of a Category 4 hurricane that dumped trillions of gallons of water on Houston, killed 47 people, and caused tens of billions of dollars’ worth of property damage.

Observers have described it as a “landmark event,” a “once-in-a-thousand-year event” and an “apocalyptic onslaught of pounding rains and rapidly rising floodwaters [that has] brought the nation’s fourth-largest city to its knees.”

Will Hurricane Harvey literally bring people to their knees—in prayer to Almighty God—as it is supposed to?

Antifa Is Trying to Ignite a Civil War

Thousands of protesters descended on the University of California–Berkeley on August 27 to protest against an anti-Marxist rally. Several dozen anarchists and Antifa agitators jumped over plastic and concrete barriers to attack the anti-Marxists.

Stella Morabito wrote at the Federalist that “the media elites provoking [left-wing terrorist organizations like Antifa] need white supremacy bogeymen in order to achieve their ultimate agenda, which, ironically, is to achieve total supremacy.” Our article “Antifa Is Trying to Ignite a Civil War” explains what their actions will actually lead to—and why.

Why Did Germany Just Bring Its Gold Back Early?

On Jan. 16, 2013, Germany sent shock waves through the gold markets when it announced plans to ensure that the majority of German gold would be held on German soil by 2020. That meant moving 374 tons of gold from Paris and 300 tons from the Federal Reserve in New York.

On August 23, the Bundesbank announced that it had completed this process three years early.

Why the hurry?

KT zu Guttenberg Is Back!

After months of anticipation, the return of Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg to German politics officially began on August 29 with his first of seven pro-Angela Merkel election campaign speeches, sold as “Straight talk with Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg—Elections in a world in upheaval.”

Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry first identified Guttenberg as a man to watch about 10 years ago. Bible prophecy says explicitly that we should expect the development of a German-led European superstate. The Bible shows that this impressive power will be led by an extraordinary leader from Germany. Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has the brilliance, graciousness, charisma and confidence to potentially make him that leader.

North Korea Sells Chemical Weapons to Syria

“Syria’s chemical weapons program was basically built up by Iran and Russia,” noted former head of Britain’s military chemical, biological and radiological weapons program, Hamish de Bretton-Gordon. “But the North Koreans have been desperate for currency and have been happy to sell technology to anyone.”

In early August, an independent panel of United Nations experts reported to the UN Security Council that North Korea was indeed selling chemical weapons components to Syria.

North Korea could sell its weapons of mass destruction , which include miniaturized nuclear weapons, to apocalyptic regimes in the Middle East.
